For a while TeresaGiudice will have to be a Housewife away from home.
I fully take liability
for my actions, Teresa read from a letter in court, per the New Jersey record " I extremely love
my family and My four daughters are my life.
She had been facing a
possible term of 21 to 27 months behind bars. Earlier Thursday, Joe Giudice husband of Giudice was= sentenced to 41 months in prison= and
ordered to pay $414,000 in restitution for fraud and failure to file federal
income tax returns.
In July 2013 Hit with a
39-count indictment he and
Teresa had pleaded guilty to bankruptcy fraud and conspiracy
to commit mail and wire fraud. The tax evasion as back in March. Originally
scheduled of their sentencing was inJuly,
but was delayed until September and then bumped till today
Judge of U.S. District
Court Esther Salas previously stated that if she were to sentence Teresa to
prison time, she would want the mother of four daughters to serve her time
first in order that Joe could stay with their kids—and apparently they'll get
to spend the holidays together earlier
Teresa has been ordered
to submit Jan. 5, 2015, and Joe's term will not begin until she is released.
Italian citizen Joe also
faces the possibility of deportation upon the conclusion of his prison term.
Before Salas lowered the
sentencing boom he said in court I stand here humiliated my family and society,
I shamed many people, including my wife and four daughters. I take full liability
for my actions .He also said,I promise to be a better person.
Salas chided the couple
from the bench but praised Joe as a parent and for his efforts to help victims
in the result of Tropical Storm Sandy, which ripped through parts of New York and New
Jersey in November 2012.
The judge said ,What you
did in this case doesn't define you as a man?.
The federal fraud case stemmed
from the Giudices' 2009 bankruptcy filing, in which the couple were accused of
failing to list all of their income and assets, including $110,000 they were
promised when they signed up for Bravo's Real Housewives. Joe was also charged with five counts of
failing to file income tax returns on roughly $1 million in earnings from 2004
until 2008
The indictment returned
today alleges the Guidices lied to the bankruptcy court, to the IRS and to a
number of banks," In a statement U.S. Attorney Paul Fishman said when the
couple were charged. "Everyone has an obligation to tell the truth when
dealing with the courts, paying their taxes and applying for loans or
mortgages. That's reality."
Today after court,
Fishman told reporters at a press conference, "The fact that she's a
celebrity played no role in her punishment.
After court Neither
Teresa nor Joe made any comment, but they'll be sitting down together with Andy
Cohen on Watch
What Happens Live this Monday at 9 p.m. for their first
interview post-sentencing.
The couple said they had
hired an accountant and provided that person with their financial information.
The undisclosed assets totaled $1 million.
why the Giudices
declared a mere $25,000 worth of items in their mansion? The judge also questioned,
although their insurance policy is worth $1 million. The couple showed $60,000
in assets in their home, In 2009 bankruptcy filings the judge noted.
Salas said , they had an
obligation to be transparent and candid and open with the court and I don't
think I got that. I want to understand the disconnect.
More than three hours
after his arrival, Joe was sentenced to spend 41 months in jail. The former
pizza parlor owner was also ordered to pay $414,588.90 in restitution fees to
Wells Fargo, and also another $10,000 to the government. Just before sentencing,
a uneasy Joe stood up and read a letter. "I stand here humiliated before
the court and my family and society. I shamed many people, including my wife
and four daughters. I take full responsibility for my actions. he said that I
promise to be a better person.
Joe's lawyer, Miles
Feinstein noted that his client's father died in June during
the hearing. Feinstein said He hasn't been the same person."That was his
best friend."
The judge does not make
a decision deportation cases; that matter will be decided at a later time.
Though Salas praised Joe's parenting, she also admonished him for using illegal
means to continue with the Jones. As she sentenced Joe, the judge said, As a man
"What you did in this case doesn't define you." She added that if
Teresa gets jail time, their sentences will be spread out and Teresa will serve
her time first.
Teresa will learn her luck

In Jail Joe Giudice Sentenced to 41 Months
The stars of Bravo's The
Real Housewives of New Jersey appeared
in federal court in Newark ,
N.J. When they arrived in court
around 9 a.m. an eyewitness told they both looked serious and sad.
Salas first told the
court that there were "evident omissions" from the couple's financial
disclosure forms, including cars, construction equipment, home furnishings,
insurance policies and other items. She added that the Giudices were supposed
to file the forms in March but did not do so until August. Salas explained thatI
had to put the sentencing off because the financial disclosure wasn't in. The
judge called a two-minute recess for the accountants and IRS to consult with
each other on tax filings from 2009 to 2011.
The federal prosecutor
argued that nondisclosure and discrepancies by the couple are part of a
"pattern of deception, dishonesty and concealment." He supposed that
the Giudices' "concealment is intentional."
Teresa listed
"0" for her jewelry on the financial disclosure forms. Her defense
attorney explained that most of his client's jewelry has little monetary value
because it is costume jewelry. The Giudices also listed $25,000 in furnishings
for their $3 million home, which the defense attorney said is because the
show's production company brings in the furnishings seen on TV. " Salas
said I'm going to tell you that it leaves with this court a feeling of
uneasiness. It feels as if things have been hidden or concealed.
